Sermon Select's Philosophy

Sermon Select is dedicated to assisting churches, preachers, ministers, and shepherds in fulfilling the Great Commission of Christ:

“Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matt. 28:19, 20 ASV

“Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.” II Tim 3:16 ASV

God’s people in the modern era have had the wonderful opportunity of collecting favorite or poignant sermons, classes, or entire gospel series on cassette tape to listen to again and again at their leisure. Some churches have even begun using the superior compact disc, or CD format. Many of these tapes and CDs have been passed on to loved ones and friends with the hope of bringing them to Christ, or for their edification and instruction.

However, experience has shown that the recording quality is often less-than-desirable and results in a tape or CD that is hard to listen to. Recording levels that are too low are difficult to hear and result in noise or “hiss” when turning up the volume. Likewise, sound frequencies that are either too low or high also make for a recording that is too distracting to be profitable.

When the purpose of a recorded sermon or lesson is to instruct or edify, the recording by necessity must be easy or pleasing to hear.
